Isolate a square root on the left hand side :

     Radical already isolated
     √3x = √x+6

Step  2  :

Eliminate the radical on the left hand side :

     Raise both sides to the second power
     (√3x)² = (√x+6)²

     After squaring
     3x = x+6

Step  3  :

Solve the linear equation :

     Rearranged equation
      2x  -6 = 0

     Add  6  to both sides
      2x  = 6

     Divide both sides by 2
     A possible solution is :
     x = 3

Check that the solution is correct :

     Original equation
     √3x = √x+6

     Plug in 3 for  x 
      √3•(3) = √(3)+6
