Step by Step Solution

Rearrange:

Rearrange the equation by subtracting what is to the right of the equal sign from both sides of the equation :

(x-1)^2*(y-2)^2-(4^2)=0

Step 1 :

 1.1     4 = 2²

(4)² = (2²)² = 2⁴

Equation at the end of step 1 :

  (((x - 1)²) • ((y - 2)²)) -  2⁴  = 0

Step 2 :

Equation at the end of step 2 :

  (x - 1)² • (y - 2)² -  2⁴  = 0

Step 3 :

 3.1     Evaluate :  (x-1)²   =    x²-2x+1 
 3.2     Evaluate :  (y-2)²   =    y²-4y+4

Equation at the end of step 3 :

  x²y² - 4x²y + 4x² - 2xy² + 8xy - 8x + y² - 4y - 12  = 0

Step 4 :

Solving a Single Variable Equation :

4.1 Solve x²y²-4x²y+4x²-2xy²+8xy-8x+y²-4y-12 = 0

In this type of equations, having more than one variable (unknown), you have to specify for which variable you want the equation solved.
